Posters, stills, photoshoots, and random photos that caught my eye this week.
Upcoming family drama Over the Sea I Come To You 带着爸爸去留学 stars Sun Honglei as a father who saves up every little penny to fund his son’s studies abroad, and is forced to join his son (Zeng Shunxi) on his exchange to the US after his wife’s visa is rejected.
Liu Haoran, Wu Lei, Li Yuchun, Cai Xukun, Yang Mi, Tong Liya, Han Geng, Kim Jaejoong, Zhai Tianlin, Yin Zheng, Gulnazar, Jing Boran, Zhou Dongyu, Xiao Zhan, Li Qin,
Wei Daxun Dong Li,etc. pose as if they were at a press conference for a Cosmo event. The photoshoot is probably one of the more interesting “event photoshoots” lately, although they didn’t even bother to change the color palette when they ripped off of a Ni Ni Gucci ad.
Who looked the best?
Director Cao Baoping’s (Equation of Love and Death, The Dead End) third film Einstein and Einstein 狗十三 stars then-13 year old Zhang Xueying (Summer’s Desire) as a love deprived only daughter who is sent to live with her grandparents after her younger half-brother is born. Veteran actor Guo Jinglin (Great Expectations) plays her father.
Tang Yixin plays a newbie fashion buyer to Zhai Tianlin’s fashion designer in upcoming rom-com Miss Buyer 买定离手我爱你. Li Yuan plays Tang Yixin’s mentor and Zhai Tianlian’s ex. The story seems to follow a pretty generic Cinderella mold, but it’s written by one of my favorite scriptwriters, Zhang Wei (The Legend of Lu Zhen, The Legend of Ban Shu, Grow Up ), so it could be really good. Plus I’ve recently discovered Zhai Tianlin actually does really well playing slightly psychotic but mostly adorable uptight boss types, so I’m actually excited he’s doing more idol dramas.
Trailer below and character posters below the cut.
King of Blaze tells of the three-lives-three-worlds romance between gods Zhongtian (Chen Bolin) and Fengjian (Jing Tian). The first part runs for 28 episodes and focuses on the leads’ romance on their home planet and in the ancient Tang dynasty, while part 2 is set in the modern day and has a total of 33 episodes.
2 episodes will be released every Monday to Thursday here beginning tonight.
Award-winning actress Kara Hui said in an interview last year that she’s still trying to find her first love, an American soldier deployed in Hong Kong during the Vietnam War. This reminds me of the story of actor Anthony Wong, who was able to find his Australian half-brothers online earlier this year thanks to a BBC report. Hey BBC, time to step up again.
“From ages 3 to 11, this girl ( you see here) lived in the red light district. I’ve seen every tragedy and joy of life. He was the first one to ask me how to say I love you in Cantonese. For a young girl, I think it was like a first love. It’s a bit tragic because he left Hong Kong the next day to Vietnam, maybe he got killed the day he arrived.” Hui said.
The fourth official installment of historical drama series The Qin Empire 大秦帝国之天下 has released a trailer, revealing an ensemble cast filled with veterans. Zhang Luyi (The Patriot) plays the main protagonist Ying Zheng, the man who would eventually unify China.
N.B: This is not to be confused with the other Qin Empire reboot by Ciwen Media.
