Casting Call: Tsui Hark’s Condor Heroes Trilogy

Legendary wuxia director Tsui Hark‘s Return of the Condor Heroes film Trilogy is having a global search for its two leads, Yang Guo and Xiaolongnü. The casting director is PoPing AuYeung and producer Shi Nansun.

They’re looking for :

  • 18 to 25-year-olds who turn 18 by March 2019 and are available from then to February 2020
  • Must be fluent in Mandarin
  • No acting experience required
  • Martial arts, gymnastics, dance, acrobatics experience a bonus

  1. This is so interesting. I’ve never heard of this type of casting before? It’ll be exciting to see who gets the role, because I think China needs some more fresh-faced, international-Chinese actors. You should post more of these, if there are any more opportunities.

  2. Color me impressed by the English in that flyer! Smart move to keep the English character descriptions short and sweet, though it’s funny seeing how much more in-depth the Chinese character descriptions are.

    Also, are they hinting that Chris Lee should apply for Yang Guo… LOL.

  3. Interesting! Nice that they’re not looking for experience, as long as there as a good director there is no need for that acting background. Hope they find somebody with talent instead.

    I’ve been waiting for Tsui Hark’s ROCH, and I’mglad to see that he is looking for a fresh brand-new casts. Now I’m hoping that these newbies can act too.
