Guardian leads Zhu Yilong, Bai Yu on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar

I’m so happy Zhu Yilong and Bai Yu are finally getting widespread recognition thanks to Guardian, even though the show itself is of subpar quality. Zhu Yilong is currently filming modern drama My True Friend 我的真朋友 with Deng Lun and Angelababy, while Bai Yu is filming Republican mystery drama Detective L 绅探.

The photos for Bazaar (online edition) were taken by Liang Hengyi.

Sci-fi film The Pathfinder looks like Mad Max in space

“We’re Pathfinders. We will all die among the stars. But not now, not today.”

After spaceship The Pathfinder breaks down on a new planet, one team of explorers must return to the spaceship and save its survivors before times out.

Sci-fi film The Pathfinder 拓星者 is the directorial debut of producer Zhang Xiaobei, so I have no idea what to expect. The film stars Song Yang, Qi Xi, Qu Jingjing, and Wang Lie. The film is shot on-location in Xinjiang with visuals that remind me of Mad Max.

Ren Suxi’s live mini- musical is Phantastic

Ren Suxi’s live performance in Hunan TV’s new live musical show, Phantacity 幻乐之城,is full of childhood wonder but also made me cry like an idiot at the airport.

The series features Faye Wong as she overlooks the production of four 10-minute mini-live musicals per episode. Episode one featured Yi Yangqianxi and Hu Xianxu, Huang Xiaoming, Ren Suxi, and Lei Jia. Yi Yangqianxi and Hu Xianxu’s work with Peng Youlun was visually stunning and a decent watch, but the breakout performance was definitely director Xin Shuang and actor Ren Suxi’s “Time Machine.”

Joe Cheng star in TV adaptation of Legend Of Ravaging Dynasties

One major plus for the TV series: the actors will actually look like humans

The TV adaptation of fantasy Legend Of Ravaging Dynasties 爵迹·临界天下 has already been filmed and released its first trailer. The people will definitely look more real than the film version, so  already a plus.  It’s shot partly in New Zealand, so  the landscape will also look way better. The script is Bai Yicong (Candle in the TombThe Lost Tomb) , who is a hit or miss.  The whole cast hasn’t been announced, but Joe Cheng and Zhang Ming’en should be playing the main duo of Yinchen and Qiling.  Huang Mengying also plays a role.
