Fan Bingbing joins Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, and Lupita Nyong’o to launch female-led spy thriller franchise 355

Fan Bingbing joins Jessica Chastain, Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, and Lupita Nyong’o to launch female-led spy thriller franchise 355.  The project is the brainchild of  Jessica Chastain, who called each of the actresses to ask them to join in the creative process.  This cast has so many of my favorite actresses,  I’m not sure if I can handle all the talent.

Highlights from the article:

Kinberg said that tonally, the Bourne franchise is the touchstone, only here the agents will be women, and they will share the screen equally.

“What we can say is, they come up against an organization larger than the established spy organizations we’ve known up to this point,” said Kinberg, long the creative spine of the X-Men franchise and who’s separately writing and producing a Star Wars film. “We are hoping to create a franchise with this, and the first film will be the agents coming together.”

On a related note, Lupita Nyong’o is expected to take on Chow Yun-Fat’s role in a John Woo remake of The Killer. Hey Hollywood, this seems like a good movie to have an Asian in at least the main supporting cast (cough,   Fan Bingbing, cough) .

  1. FBB looks absolutely anemic, especially standing next to Lupita Nyong’o . Would like to see a healthier look on these pale-faced actresses.
