The Princess Weiyoung costars and real-life couple Tang Yan and Luo Jin are in the last stages of filming for The Way We Were, an upcoming Romeo and Juliet-esque romance drama that focuses on the lives of international students in the US.
Tang Yan plays Xiao Qing, a JD student who aspires to become a prosecutor like her father. She’s best friends with Mou Ying (Xu Lingyue) and things get complicated when she falls in love with Shu Che (Luo Jin), the ex-boyfriend that her bestie still loves.
Back in China, Shu Che’s government official father Shu Wang (Wang Zhiwen) is found to have been involved in shady dealings with a greedy businessman (Zhang Xilin), and Xiao Qing’s father is put in charge of the case. Shu Wang also gets his mistress pregnant, though wife (Shi Ke) tries her best to keep things under wraps for the sake of Shu Wang’s career.
Costars include Wang Tianchen (General and I) as a rebellious man child who has a one-sided love for Xiao Qing, and Yu Jiwei (variety show Graduation) as a hard-working student from a middle class family who has a crush on Mou Ying.
The 50 episode drama comes Gao Xuan and Ren Baoru, the pair of writers behind Farewell Vancouver and My Youthfulness and director Liu Jiang (The Battle at the Dawn).
