Tea Pets 阿唐奇遇, the second animated feature from the team behind Little Door Gods, is set for a July 21st release. The animation still looks great, hopefully they’ll up the story this time. Trailer below and more here and here.

Thank you!
I wasn’t aware of this upcoming movie at all. Typically the news is on Chen Kaige, Ann Hui, Feng Xiaogang movies.
If only they let us know the good places to buy tea trays (and good clay teapots) in Northern America, so we too can use tea pets. They typically sell small tea trays here. Hard to fit the essential tea wares even. Let alone fitting a tea pet.
The Tea Pets characters sound spunky. I prefer seeing such characters in animation. When it’s done by Zheng Kai etc, sometimes I find the actor annoying and obnoxious. Too ‘in your face’.
It’s really impressive how far Chinese animation has come over the past 10 years. Voice acting has improved a lot too, which is one of my Chinese animation pet peeves.
Though, this movie seems a bit like Toy Story… and a bit of Ratatouille, and Big Hero 6, and Wreck-It Ralph, all rolled into one. There’s even the Kung Fu Panda Oogway tortoise character.
