Stairway to Stardom 逆袭之星途璀璨 is based on a RPG produced by I Am YT, and stars Song Yi (The Disguiser, Far Away Love) as Su Cheng, an earnest and hardworking young girl who has dreams of becoming an actress. Thai actor Push plays a company CEO who eventually falls in love with our main protagonist.
Su Cheng loses her job as an assistant when the actress she is responsible for gets fired, though she gets a second chance when she is successful in a talent search show. She slowly works her way up the ladder, and eventually becomes one of the most sought-after young actresses in the entertainment industry. She gets into a love triangle with CEO Duan Chengxuan (Push) and renowned stylist Ye Chen (Zhao Jian) and finds herself an enemy in top star Yan Chufei (Yan Xi).
Costars include Han Xue (Path of a Beauty) as a power agent and Duan Chengxuan’s sister, Zhong Danni (Precious Youth) as Su Cheng’s frenemy and Orlando Bloom (yes, you read that right) as Su Cheng’s fairy godfather.
Watching this right now and I’m dying searching for english subs.
This looks like a great gig for her, with tons of guest stars (Orlando Bloom WHAAAT? ) . Not a big fan of Push, but at least it looks like he’s trying to remember his lines in Chinese, so props for that.
Also if we’re doing Thai actors can we not bring the weird machismo and rape culture? Like if a man you have just met picks you up and force-ably takes you somewhere, even in the name of caring for you, you should not be alone with them again and maybe file for harassment.
