Powerhouse actor Chen Daoming will be joining Jin Dong (Ode to Joy), Ma Yili (Chinese Style Relationship), Yuan Quan (Call of Heroes) and Lei Jiayin (Red Star Over China) in The First Half of My Life 我的前半生, a drama adaption of Yi Shu’s novel of the same name.
Thirty-seven year old Zijun (Ma Yili) leads a peaceful life as a housewife, yet is unaware of the cracks in her marriage. She is taken aback when her husband (Lei Jiayin) asks for a divorce, and is unsuccessful in her attempts to save their relationship. After an initial period of denial, Zijun heads back into the workforce with the help of best friend Tang Jing (Yuan Quan) and her boyfriend He Han (Jin Dong). Tang Jing is an independent, career-oriented woman, and the way she deals with He Han’s romantic affections for Zijun will also be a major plot point in the drama.
In the drama, all the characters will have reached a turning point in their lives, and the tagline in the pictures definitely seems like a good piece of advice: “Don’t be afraid of the future, and learn to let go of the past.” Costars include Vivian Wu (A Love For Separation), Zhang Yanyan (When a Snail Falls in Love) and Wu Yue (Yangko Dance).
The 36 episode drama is directed by Shen Yan (Chinese Style Relationship) and written by Qin Wen (Hot Mom!) and has been confirmed for a 2017 broadcast on Dragon TV and Beijing TV.
