I remember the Japanese have a thing for Yang Guifei so of course she had to fit in this film…?

The Legend of the Demon Cat 妖猫传 has released stills.  This seems to be a Chinese-Japanese co-production since it’s based on the Japanese tale of Bakeneko.  Starring Shota SometaniHuang XuanLiu HaoranZhang Yuqi (Kitty Zhang), Zhang Rongrong (Sandrine Pinna), and Zhang Tianai, those looking for a quick Tang dynasty fantasy movie to watch can check this out.

More stills and (WARNING) potential spoilers at the bottom of the post.

During the Late Tang Dynasty, a manor is invaded by a demon cat and a sense of unrest befalls the capital of Changan.  A poet is charged with investigating the case and meets up with a monk (Kong Hai).  The two work together and pull apart the thread of clues to reveal a history of truths leading to the events.

    1. I know right. I literally screamed when I saw Shota’s name here. He seems to do mystery and supernatural really with his past work already, so hopefully this won’t disappoint.
