Online personas revealed for Yang Yang and Zheng Shuang’s Love O2O

Can someone actually explain to me what Love O2O means?

The upcoming college romance drama Love O2O 微微一笑很倾城 starring Yang Yang (Whirlwind Girl) and Zheng Shuang (The Three Heroes and Five Gallants) has released an abundance of stills and trailers ahead of its premiere tonight (August 22nd).

Bei Weiwei (Zheng Shuang) is known as Luwei Weiwei in the virtual world, a female martial artist who enters into a marriage with the “god of the gaming world” Yixiao Naihe (Yang Yang) so they can both level up in popular role play game Dreaming of Jianghu. Weiwei soon finds out he is her college senior Xiao Nai, who is described as the cream of the crop in both sports and academics – basically the perfect boyfriend, in C-novel terms. The romance between this pair of programmers is all sweet and fluff, and judging from the teasers released so far, the drama has captured the atmosphere perfectly.

Getting actors to sing drama theme songs seems to be the current trend, and Love O2O has also made sure to include its own group of flower boys in the soundtrack. Yang Yang tries his hand at singing in the insert song, while the opening theme song “Alluring Smile” features the drama’s supporting actors Bai Yu, Cui Hang, Zhang Binbin, Zhang He and Zheng Yecheng.

The drama is directed by acclaimed idol drama director Lin Yufen (Legend of the Nine Tail Fox, Wuxin: The Monster Killer), and written by original author Gu Man (Angelababy’s Love O2O, You Are My Sunshine). Love O2O is set to run for 30 episodes on Dragon TV and Jiangsu TV.

  1. So I just started watching this on top of My Little Princess, and I’m semi-impressed with the CGI (especially compared to the two recent dramas with the horrendous blue contacts). So far my favorite character is Hao Mei. He’s very happy-go-lucky and cute in the role. I wish his ship had more screentime even though KO is kind of a stalker.

Slightly disappointed in Zheng Shuang. I think she has one of the more naturally cute expressions of the younger actresses, but in longer scenes it’s apparent she’s timed them and there’s no flow.

Also, pleasantly surprised to see 8090’s Zhang He still in the business!

    • I actually thought the CGI in Ice Fantasy was serviceable – it was the only thing that prevented me from dropping the drama immediately.
Her acting leaves much to be desired, though I’m just watching for the OTP fluff anyways. I must say that Yang Yang landed himself a fantastic character this time round.

    • I can’t see how Zheng Shuang has natural cute expression… Rachel Mao, on the other hand, is a ball of cuteness, though her character here can be annoying at times. Other than Rachel, Janice Wu is cute without being cutesy :)

  2. does anyone know what handphones they were using in the drama, in episode 19 i started noticing they have the same gold backed handphones

    • Eps 14&15 will be broadcast on TV tonight. I watch on the official streaming site Youku, though I am aware the official YouTube channel is a couple of episodes behind.

  3. Just a few more hours! LOL. Hope it turns out good. Been following the promos and trailers since words got out that they’re adapting this.

Anyone know where I can wait this? Stream or not, I just want to tune in. :D
