Yang Mi’s TLTWTMPB promises to be a visual feast

Can anyone think of a shorter acronym?

The drama version of Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossom 三生三世十里桃花 finished filming at the end of June, and has released a wrap-up video and new stills to commemorate.

Based on the popular romance novel of the same name by Tangqi Gongzi, Yang Mi stars as the beautiful fox spirit Bai Qian, who falls in love with crown prince Ye Hua (Mark Chao). Their fateful romance plays out over three lives, and the drama promises to deliver an epic love story set in the fantastical world of deities and demons.

There definitely isn’t enough material in the original to produce a full-length drama, which is probably why they decided to include Feng Jiu (Dilraba) and Dong Hua (Gao Weiguang) from the sequel novel Pillow Book 三生三世枕上书. Three Lives Three Worlds introduced me to the world of Chinese novels, so I still have a soft spot for it despite all the negative publicity surrounding the author, and hope it does well on both the small and silver screens.

The drama boasts an impressive behind-the-scenes crew including director Lin Yufen (Bu Bu Jing Xin, Journey of Flower) and award-winning costume designer William Cheung (The Grandmaster). Frankly I care about the writing most, though there has been no word on the screenwriter yet. TLTWTMPB is scheduled to hit airwaves in 2017.

  1. I think the film version with Yang Yang and Liu Yi Fei is called ‘Once Upon a Time’. Not that much shorter haha. It certainly reminds me of the American tv series of the same name!
