Our first look at Ivy Chen as Maertai Ruoxi.
The movie adaptation of Bu Bu Jing Xin (新步步惊心) finally released its first set of stills, as well as a short preview, giving viewers their first glimpse of female lead Ivy Chen, who plays Zhang Xiaowen, a lonely young woman who accidentally time travels back to the Qing Dynasty.
The preview of the film, officially titled Time to Love, gives off an interesting fairy-tale-like atmosphere, complete with pretty lights and shiny carousels. Unlike the original novel by Tong Hua and the previous drama adaptation, Zhang Xiaowen’s trip to the Qing Dynasty appears to be triggered by a deliberate drowning in the bathtub, rather than an accidental traffic incident and electrocution.
Time to Love began filming in November of last year and recently wrapped up filming. The movie also stars Tony Yang and Shawn Dou, though still no word has been given on which characters they will portray. Currently in post-production, Time to Love is expected to open in theaters in the second half of 2015.
Check out the preview below, as well as more stills and posters behind the cut.
The trailer is unexpected really good. I like that they went with a different kind of exit to the past. But I thought time travelling was a no no now in China?
Only in TV, films have always had looser restrictions.
I can’t wait! The trailer looks really good!
There’s no close up of Tony darn it!!
The cinematography is really pretty. I like the cutting of the trailer a lot, especially the water scene. Also the scene where she’s running through the palace. I hope it’s not caused by suicide, though…
