Bu Bu Jing Xin film stars Ivy Chen, Shawn Dou

A film adaptation of Bu Bu Jing Xin 步步惊心 has announced its cast of Ivy Chen, Shawn Dou, and Yang Youning.

I think Shawn Dou is super underrated, and I like Ivy Chen, but her face (and acting) is really too cute to make me picture her as Ruoxi.  What do you think? How do they compare?

  1. I looooove Ivy Chen. I agree about her baby face, but imho when given serious roles and not all these chick flicks she’s been doing lately, I think she’s actually quite talented. She really impressed me in “Black and White” anyway.

  2. Same opinion here about Ivy — she’s too baby-faced to pull off most period/ancient dramas. :/

Wonder which role the guys will have. I have faith that Tony can pull off any of the Prince roles, though it’ll be suuuuper weird seeing him with the Qing queue.

    • I was just about to say that I can never take Ivy seriously in a period drama! Idk some actors don’t look the part, if that makes sense. Plus I think she has her acting tics.

  3. I read on weibo that the movie has nothing to do with the original novel except for the title. I don’t think stories like this or ZHZ are suitable to be adapted into movies. Just look at YuZheng’s Gong. It has been a totally flop!
