Weibo Wednesday: December 31, 2014

Happy last day of the year! We hope that 2014 wraps up well for all of our Cfensi readers, and that 2015 will be an even better year! No earth-shattering news in this Weibo Wednesday round-up, but there are some cute animals and the usual pack of cute kids.

Crystal Liu Yifei hung out with a baby elephant at the beginning of the month. So adorable! Have another photo below the cut:

Happy Holidays from “The Inspector Calls”

He sees you when you’re asleep, he knows when you’re awake, he’s not Santa Claus, just a detective on coke.

Okay, so it’s past Christmas, but since it’s still the holidays (Happy New Year’s Eve/ New Year’s, depending on your location!), here’s a cute set of posters and a few stills from comedy director Raymond Wong’s latest holiday flick, An Inspector Calls 神探驾到. The film stars Louis Koo, Zhang Han, Donnie Yen,  Eric Tsang, Karena Ng, Chrissie Chau, and Liu Yan.

Hawick Lau, Wang Likun, and a lot of flowers in new drama

When they said A Flower with Two Lives, they didn’t mean A Pile of Flowers Who Are Now Dead…

Missing out on your favorite amnesia drama recently? No worries! The adaptation of Tang Qi Gong Zi’s 岁月是朵两生花 (literally Time is a Flower that Lives Twice), Twice Blooms the Flower 两生花 features both main characters losing their memories.

Wang Likun plays a seriously confused girl who gets pregnant and then loses her memories. Adopted by a passerby who raised her as her own, the young girl lived her life without knowing who she is or who the father of the child is. Then one day out of nowhere came two guys (Hawick Lau, Huo Zhengyan) claiming the child as their own. Man, if only DNA tests existed …

Music Monday: Last Monday of 2014

Here to make Monday a little easier =)
Good Morning Last Monday of 2014! Thanks idarklight for keeping Music Monday as consistent as possible! Here’s to consistency in 2015! …

Another cute acoustic song to add to my playlist. Really, I should just rename the playlist as My 徐良 Xu Liang. His new album 《我》, a composite of ten duets, features a different female artist on each song, from Guo Jing to Happy Camp’s Wu Xin. Seriously! How does this happen? I Will Be OK features Xiao Yan Zi 李晟 Li Chen.

Angelababy for L’Officiel

Actress Angelababy recently posed for L’Officiel for a photoshoot – as in all of her photoshoots, she’s extraordinarily thin. Asides from her upcoming role in the Chinese remake of Bride Wars, she’ll also be working with Chen Kun, Shu Qi, and Huang Bo for The Ghouls: Code of the Dragon 鬼吹灯之寻龙诀, one of the tomb-robbing movies we mentioned here. Look below the cut for more pictures! (more…)

Jane Zhang, Anson Hu join I am a Singer 3

Yes, that is an article in the title. It is no longer "I am Singer"!
Yes, that is an article in the title. I am no longer Singer, but a Singer!!

I am a Singer 3 has revealed its initial cast of singers – Jane Zhang, Anson Hu, A-lin, Kit Chan, Sun Nan, Leo Ku, and Han Hong. I’m upset they still haven’t invited Tan Weiwei, but Anson was a pleasant surprise since he’s been on a number of other similar shows. The show begins airing next Sunday. Who are you rooting for?

On a completely unrelated note, here’s Jane Zhang and Zhang Jie’s cover of Yang Mi’s The Palace theme, as if the two of them haven’t taken over every theme song since then.

The Empress of China breaks records via premier

The Empress of China really does rule. Not only did it take over the top spot on Chinese TV in one day after a low season for Chinese dramas, but the premier broke records for highest opening day rating, and the most viewed drama per day online.

I don’t think you’ll see so many pretty outfits in one drama (the background dancers changed outfits three times in one episode) .  The dialogue between the females start off a bit weak, but the plot picks up quickly and does a good job of highlighting what makes a series about Wu Zetian unique –  one that entangles both court and harem intrigue.    The music is beautiful, and the set is amazing.  Also, baby Li Zhi has the cutest dimples ever and I totally ship him and Ruyi in a non-creepy way.

Have you seen it? What are your thoughts?

Here’s the ending MV for the theme by Jane Zhang:

Merry Christmas from Dad 1 cast!

Dad! Where did Cindy go?

Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate it!

Going head-to-head with the upcoming film “Where are we going? Dad II” will be another comedy from the dads of the first season – Emperor’s Vacation 爸爸的假期. The film is directed by Wang Yuelun, and notably misses Cindy, but has a guest star from Tian Liang. Wang Yuelun isn’t the best director, so we’ll see how it goes. If anything, the kids will be cute, even if it is scripted.
