Who’s the fairest of them all?

Huang Xiaoming’s triad boss in the Shanghai Bund is so handsome, he can’t resist trying to hit on himself. Too bad the triad boss looks so murderous.

With the recent drama Prince of Orchid Hills/Lanling Wang coming to an end, most viewers have already reconciled themselves with Feng Shaofeng’s pretty-boy general. But on that note, which other actors might have made a convincing case for feminine beauty? (Sorry, Jet Li, and Jackie Chan. I can’t look at your female forms without wanting to laugh). Take a look below to see a selection cross-dressing men in Chinese entertainment. Wallace Huo dresses up as a Victorian lady (and puckers up for a kiss as his wuxia counterpart stares in disbelief). Nicolas Tse sports two braids and what looks like a schoolgirl outfit.  Throw in Tony Leung, Du Haitao, Sammul Chan, Li Yugang, and Eason Chan, and it’s a field day – you’ll find a list of contenders to be the fairest of them all.

Although, if you’ll remember this music video  (where Ma Tianyu, after being ditched by Deng Sha for her best friend on their wedding day, dresses up as a woman to seduce the said girlfriend, in the end winning back his own fiance/girlfriend…) you’ll know who the winner is before we even begin.  Update: Chen Xiao (giving Ma Tianyu a run for his money), Kimi Qiao Renliang, and Jimmy Lin have joined our list of crossdressers. Du Haitao has a real schoolgirl costume, replete with little flowers in his hair…

Who’s this pretty lady?

If Yang Guo and Xiao Longnv from the 2006 version of ROCH had a daughter?

Li Yugang, who plays a woman as part of his profession.

“I’d tap that.”

“Hahahaha! I am so much prettier than you!”

“Guys, /I/’m not the weird one here…”

Can you just imagine male-Tony thinking, “oh, god…”?

“We’re the perfect match! Come closer, darling~”

Wallace Huo, feminine version 2 – so sexy s/he doesn’t even need a costume this time.

At leas this pair is hitting it off.

“Shuai ge, come a little closer?”

Shame, neither of them looks very happy.

Haaaii~~ Du Haitao, reborn as a modern schoolgirl.

Who would win this match? Does Jackie’s smile belie murderous intent?

Nothing out of place here…

Never believe what you see on the internet…!

And, (at least for me), the winner….

Chen XIao: No fair…just because I never /really/ dressed up as a girl doesn’t mean I shouldn’t have the chance to compete…

Kimi Qiao Renliang: And that’s it for today! Baibai, my darlings!

Who do you think was the winner?

  1. I would also like to nominate HuHu, who really looks Cecilia Cheung when he dresses up as a girl. So I know a number of people crossdressed for the show, but I really think HuHu is the best crossdresser and imitator in general in the entire show.

And here’s HuHu and Sun Jian cos Li Bingbing and Fan Bingbing (although they don’t really look like them here, whereas HuHu actually looks like Cecilia Cheung in the video above)

  2. Chen Xiao, Chen Xiao, Chen Xiao! Chen Xiao and Wallace Huo both looked great in their effeminate looks in Laughing in the Wind (although I guess they weren’t female, but perhaps their characters self-identified as females?).
