In more Hollywood action film news, Wang Leehom will star in the adaptation of Stan Lee’s Annihilator. Apparently he’s also ” currently filming Michael Mann’s untitled cyber-terrorism film starring Chris Hemsworth.” Read more about it on Variety here.

I don’t know how I feel….
Not sure about the casting, but nerds seem pretty happy that this movie is being made. The more Asian faces I see on the big screen, the better, imo.
I think Wang Leehom was casted just for him name, because isn’t this movie all robots?
I think that’s a different one… by the same name but I’m not sure >.<
Ehhh… not thrilled about the casting choice. Leehom has star power in Asia, but none in the West, which makes me think this whole movie will be more of an expensive Chinese vanity project than a truly cross-cultural movie. Plus, Leehom, who is approaching 40, is too old to play a “young” Chinese expat. And he doesn’t he have a superhero physique… unless they put him on some Gerard Butler/Ryan Reynolds/Hugh Jackman workout to bulk him up a lot.

> this was my first thought when i read the news.
i have mixed feelings about this =/
Not all of Marvel’s superheroes are super buff, though. And 1 feel like Leehom looks young enough. It’s possible (in hoping for the best), the choice of an actual Chinese-American was a sign of respect, since Chinese ppl probably don’t want some random white-looking playing Chinese. Also, given that the Tali-chi movie flipped, it was probably a good idea to tie in some star power for the Chinese audience.
They just wrapped filming in HK for “Cyber”. The crew is moving to shoot in Malaysia next. Tang Wei is also in it and plays Leehom’s sister if I’m not mistaken.
I do love Marvel, but I don’t know a thing about The Annihilator and the story. I hope it will be a good one.
