The first promotional single from the new album is a remake of Single Ladies by Remady & Manu L ft J-Son. The Chinese, or MIC’s version, is produced by MIC and penned by Yuahan, Yao Yao, and Xiao Xin. Hopefully, with the release of the album, we’ll be seeing more of MIC on talk shows in the upcoming months.
Yao Yao is currently away filming a military drama, even though his first drama still haven’t aired yet. The rest of the members will be busy preparing for the musical (?) “Stealing Stars on a September Day” with Hong Chen.
After proving their ability to produce revenue for the company with a successful concert last year, MIC‘s company have finally rewarded them with a physical album! Taihe Rye Music wasn’t sure if releasing a physical album for the boys was such a great idea since their first album didn’t do as well as the company had hoped. (Song Ke lost so much faith in the record industry that he packed his bags and opened a Beijing Duck shop.) But the company didn’t give up on the boys, on whom they’ve invest 4 years of training, instead Taihe Rye Music released their second album <Color> as a digital album. Depending on how the album does, the company is willing to re-consider releasing a physical album.
I thought Taihe Rye Music took a huge gamble with this marketing strategy, either this attempt unites the fans into legally purchasing the album to support MIC, or it fails and turn that 4 years of training cost into a failed investment. But in the end MIC and the fans pulled through, and were rewarded with their first ever concert earlier this year (fancam of the whole concert is available on MICtianya youtube).
